Jim has been an influential market strategist and mentor to some of the finest minds on Wall Street. His views and proprietary investment disciplines developed at C.J. Lawrence have served investors well over many investment cycles. Prior to re-launching C.J. Lawrence in 2015, Jim was Vice-Chairman of ISI Inc. and a member of ISI Group’s Investment Committee since 1999. From 1995 to 1999, Jim was the Chief Investment Officer of Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. after it acquired Morgan Grenfell/C.J. Lawrence in 1989. Previously he was Chairman and President of C.J. Lawrence and its successor companies from 1973 to 1995.

Jim first joined Cyrus J. Lawrence & Sons as a financial analyst. In 1962, he was promoted to Research Director. In 1964, he was made a General Partner of the firm and became Managing Partner in 1971. When C.J. Lawrence incorporated in 1973, he was named Chief Executive Officer. Jim is a former Director of The New York Stock Exchange (1986-92) and of the Securities Industry Association.

Jim received his M.B.A. from the Wharton Business School and his B.A. from Williams College. For nine years he was Chairman of the Board of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and currently is a Life Trustee there and at the Clark Art Institute. He has been a Trustee of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation and a member of the Williams College Investment Committee. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
